We arrived safely in Sydney this morning, after the longest plane ride of my life! Sarah and I left Atlanta at 6:40PM EST, arrived in LA at 8:40PM PST and then departed at 10:50 PST on December 27th. After sitting on a plane for 15 hours, we landed in Sydney on December 29th at 8AM! Luckily we both slept a fair amount, but we were a bit loopy. We are on the other side of the world!!

After settling in to our B&B, Number 71, in Bondi Junction, we put on our bathing suits to take advantage of the summer weather. Not to anyone's surprise, our first purchase in this new country was a weekly mass transit pass which allowed us full access to subway, bus and ferry around Sydney.
We made our way to Bondi beach and went immediately into full vacation, relaxation mode.
We spent the afternoon walking around the beach and checking out the many speedos. The one with Kiwi on the butt was my favorite! Bondi Beach was CROWDED!
There were people everywhere, yes it was holiday week and also gorgeous outside, but it was still a sight to see.
Sarah and I, per the recommendation of
Lauren Smith, had drinks at the top of the Shangri -La Hotel overlooking Sydney Harbour. The view from up here was wonderful, and there was a great sunset to accompany it. What a great way to see this city before spending 3 days exploring it!
After a $20 beer, we decided to opt for a cheap dinner and found a cafe at Circular Quay.
At this point Sarah and I began discussing how awful the B&B was (shared bathroom, no AC, far from city, etc) but it was not for another hour that we would decide to get the hell outta there! It took 40 minutes + to get back to Bondi Junction, and at 10:30 PM we found ourselves locked out of Number 71 until finally another guest let us in around 11PM. Sarah decided to look for Sydney hotel options, and we quickly had new plans.
What a day!!
