December 30th
Sarah and I woke up very early and put together our strategy for telling our host we would be canceling our remaining three nights and moving into the city. Luckily I was armed with unbelievably successful negotiating skills and went into the encounter fearless. Turns out, she was pretty understanding, especially when we said we were locked out the night before, she witnessed her crazy dog biting my sunburnt feet, and we reminded her she had no published cancellation policy.
We booked three nights at the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour ($900 on my credit card!), packed our things and embarked on a new adventure that proved to be the best decision of our trip.
After checking in to the hotel, Sarah and I took our first ferry ride to Circular Quay which took us under the Harbour Bridge and by great views of the very recognizable landmark, the Sydney Opera House.
We continued on through the Botanical Gardens, stopping briefly for photo shoots of a unique looking bird, a barbed wire sculpture, engraved bamboo and other interesting subjects
Later, we decided on dinner in Chinatown, which just so happened to be right behind our hotel. Realized we were very tired, so we called it an early night.
